Well nothing funner than a last minute trip somewhere you have never been before that was cooler than here. We headed up north or northeast to SE oklahoma. I came across a nice wooded lake river area just 3 hours away on the internet. I was looking for cabin areas nearby and liked Beaver's Bend. Though all the cabins were booked months in advance, we booked a Comfort Suite room about 20 minutes away from where we spent most of the time. There were lots of things to do. We played miniature golf our first night there and ate dinner on the river. We went back to the hotel and swam. The next morning we had reservations to take horseback ride through the woods (trail ride). Alexus really enjoyed it. She rode Frosty with her dad. It was bout an hour then a train ride through the same area. We saw dear and lots of other wood creatures. We headed to the river for a very cool swim. Boy was it cold but Alexus enjoyed making mud pies with a little friend she made. While Alexus napped in the car, I drove around scoping out another place to swim further down the bend at the lake. They had a great playground and beautiful view...also a nice place to tent camp. She played tag with some young boys at the playground and then we went to a nice dinner on the main street. It was quite expensive but not as good as we hoped. After another swim at the hotel, we were pooped. Oh, I forgot that we did a paddleboat ride for a half hour cross the river. The next day it was already time to go but we had breakfast downstairs then went to an internet coffee cafe that was pretty good. Since the nearest starbucks was 40 miles away, we were having w/drawals. Oh should I say mom was...he he. So after an early morning swim at the lake/beach area we went back to check out, have lunch and head home. It really wasn't a bad drive at all. She slept over half the way both directions. I thought I might reserve a cabin for the next warm holiday. It reminds me of camp meeting/Ft davis where I spent many a summer with my grandparents.
